Class Page Have you ever wondered what it would be like to study amidst the "dreaming spires" of Oxford? Why not join KTC students for a week of stimulating lectures and enjoy the best of all that Oxford has to offer. We are in the process of planning next year's study breaks so here are the Study Breaks for the Autumn Term!

All the study breaks this year are over 3 days - Monday till Wednesday but if you can stay an extra day in Oxford, we would like to invite you to join us for Chapel and Community Lunch on the Thursday (11.30am - 2pm). This is a great opportunity to join with the college community as we worship together along similar themes to the week's teaching and as we relax and catch up with one another over lunch. This is at no extra cost (apart from £1.50 for lunch) and is highly recommended if you want to see how the central themes of the week translate into worship. You can let us know at time of booking or during the week itself.

	06-08 Feb \| Church History II: Modern \| Mike Horswell and Team \| £60 Bringing the story of the church right up to the present day Mike Horswell and team chart the course of the church through the discovery of the New World, revolutions and empires and two World Wars all the way to the charismatic movement we find ourselves in today. Taking a look at the role of missions and renewals we travel right up to the present day to place our movement in its historical context. Choose this study break if: You want to put yourself in the big story and better understand where our society has travelled.
	20-22 Feb \| Mission \| Len Bartlotti and Adam Martin \| £60 A team of international experts join us for a week of exploring the place and challenges of mission in todayÂ’s world. How do we take the good news about Jesus to inhospitable cultures and environments? What does it mean for us to cross cultural and religious barriers? And how do we engage with mission in our daily lives Â– both overseas and right here in the UK? Choose this study break if: You want to be informed, inspired and encouraged about mission by practitioners in different fields.
	27-29 Feb \| Ephesians \| Aled Griffith and Simon & Gaynor Shaw \| £60 The Book of Ephesians is a foundational text for Christians seeking to live the Spirit-empowered life as church today. Aled Griffith and Simon & Gaynor Shaw dig into Paul's Letter to the Ephesians and explore the riches of what it means to be church - ministering from both word and Spirit. Choose this study break if:You want to be refreshed and equipped to engage with church.
	05-07 Mar \| Contemporary Ecclesiology \| Mark Mumford & Aled Griffith \| £60 Church is a norm for many Christians, but what is church and why is it important? Mark Mumford, Aled Griffith and team unpack some of the recent trends in ecclesiology (megachurch, messy church, emerging church etc) and explore the church's role as a missionary and worshipping community. They will also survey the story of Salt and Light and where it fits in this bigger picture. Choose this study break if: You want to explore and re-imagine some of the church's role as a light to the world.
	12-14 Mar \| The Kingdom of God \| Steve Jones \| £60 We take a week with Oxford church leader Steve Jones to examine the Kingdom of God' why does Jesus use this phrase so often and why is the kingdom so fundamental to our thinking and doing as Christians? Steve will equip us to think biblically and inspire us to play our part in the work of God. Choose this study break if: You want to be refreshed in your understanding of the Kingdom of God.
	19-21 Mar \| ENCOUNTER: Holy Spirit \| Steve Thomas \| £60 In the first of this term's ENCOUNTER weeks, Steve Thomas introduces the person, work and gifts of the Holy Spirit; He who 'hovered over the waters' in Creation and came at Pentecost bringing new birth, spiritual gifts, Spirit-baptism, sanctification, and the indwelling of the Holy Trinity. Steve also looks at the work of the Spirit in revival and challenges us to live by the Spirit day by day. Choose this study break if: You want both the theology and person of the Holy Spirit to impact your life.
	26-28 Mar \| ENCOUNTER: Passion Week \| KTC Team \| £60 Set against the backdrop of Passion Week, walk with the KTC team as we explore and experience the powerful and painful days of Jesus' walk toward the cross. Share the opportunity to engage with the revolutionary act that tied human history with spiritual realities, inaugurated the church and inspires our everyday interactions with the world. Choose this study break if: You are looking to be inspired, impassioned and refreshed in your faith as we reflect on the centrepiece of faith.
	16-19 Apr \| Wisdom Literature \| Lizzie Green , Tessa Bosworth,& Dave Perry \| £60 Often overlooked, wisdom literature in the Bible reveals the everyday centrality of God who is truly wise. KTC team Lizzie Green and Tessa Bosworth help us explore the important role these books play in shaping the way we think, live and respond to lifeÂ’s challenges and celebrations. Join us in seeing how Proverbs, Job and Ecclesiastes guide us, sometimes surprisingly, in how to live and bear fresh relevance in a culture which has embraced meaninglessness. Bringing the search for wisdom into the NT, Dave Perry will take a look at the encouragement James has to put our faith into action. Note: Monday to Thursday Choose this study break if: You struggle to make sense of the wisdom books and would like a deeper look.
	23-26 Apr \| Spiritual Formation and Worldview \| Michael Neumann \| £60 Michael Neumann from Hatfield Training Centre, South Africa, explores how we are formed and sanctified; what does it mean to be transformed into the likeness of Christ and to live a rhythm of life centred on Him? Through teaching and ministry Michael will help us think about all the different parts of ourselves and provoke us to face what influences the way we think and live. Note: Monday to Thursday Choose this study break if: You want your thinking expanded and your eyes opened to the journey God would have you make with Him.
	01-03 May \| Church & Culture I: Cultural Formation \| Michael Neumann \| £60 Michael Neumann and the KTC team start to unlock contemporary culture by tracing strands through recent thinking. Where did modernism come from? Why is post-modernism a big deal? What are some of the challenges and opportunities of living in the 21st century? What are some of the ways Christians have engaged or withdrawn from the society around them and why? This week will equip you with tools to engage with the world around you and help you understand what makes our society tick. Note: Tuesday to Thursday Choose this study break if: Post-modernism and modernism are a bit mysterious and you want to dig into why people think like they do today.
	08-10 May \| Church & Culture II: Cultural Formation \| \| £60 In this study break we consider how we 'make a difference' in society by being inspired and challenged by those who are getting involved. How do we communicate our hope in Jesus? What difference does it make to our lifestyles? And what can one person do about the many problems we see across the world? A variety of practitioners will help us think about our response to current hot potatoes such as poverty, the environment and our capitalist economic system. Note: Tuesday to Thursday Choose this study break if: You struggle with the tension of being distinct from, yet relevant to, prevailing culture, and if you want to transform society but don't know how to engage with the issues.
