Entry Requirements

To register for the Certificate HE programme (validated course) you need to meet the following entry requirements:
1. A pass in English Language GCSE at grade C or above, or equivalent qualification;
2. Two A levels or their equivalent;
Or
1. An appropriate professional qualification deemed by KTC to be equivalent to the above.

If you do not have these qualifications please do not panic. Contact us and we will discuss the way forward. For a student with no formal qualifications, matriculation may be achieved through:

1. Enrolment on the first KTC module as an associate student. Upon successful completion of the module the student can enrol for the full programme transferring the 20 credits.

Part time and Partner Programmes (‘Home and Away’)
If you are studying on one of the ‘Home and Away’ programmes or doing the course part-time (and not taking the Certificate course) these entry requirements are more flexible, although we expect you to have a good command and comprehension of written and spoken English, and GCSE English would be useful.
Whether part-time students can attempt the validated Certificate course will be worked out on an individual basis. Please state on your application form if you would like to discuss this possibility.

International Applicants
We look forward to receiving a good number of students each year from overseas. We strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible so that we can process your application in good time and help you to prepare for your time here.
If you are a national of a country outside the EEA/EU, you are able to apply for our Foundation Course which lasts 6 months (September-February). You will need to obtain a ‘Student Visitor’ Visa to study in the UK. Please see the internationals page for more information.
We interview international applicants through Skype. Skype is a service you can download free from the internet that provides free calls, free video calls and free instant messaging. Visit www.skype.com to download the software.
Those whose first language is not English will need to take an English Language test before they are accepted onto the course. We use IELTS for this – see www.IELTS.org for your nearest test centre. Those enrolling on the Certificate HE programme need to achieve level 6 overall, and no lower than level 5.5 in any of the 4 components (reading, writing, speaking, listening). If you have already achieved an equivalent English language qualification please state this on your application form.
